Careers Available to You Once You Graduate from Online Veterinary Assistant Programs

Many pet owners feel their pet is a valued member of the family and as such, they treat them with the utmost care and concern. Aside from feeding them the best quality foods, ensuring they have a comfortable place to sleep and lavishing them with as much love and attention as possible, pet owners also take steps to guarantee their pets receive the best medical care available. For this reason, and many others, veterinarians and qualified vet assistants are in high demand.

In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there is expected to be a 14% increase through 2020 in career opportunities for veterinary assistants; especially ones who have completed either traditional or online veterinary assistant programs – like the one offered at PCDI Canada.  That means there will be an estimated 83,600 job opportunities for vet assistants! But why is there such an increase in vet assistant careers? Here are a few reasons why.

  1. People Spend More On Their Pets:
The American Pet Products Association (APPA) estimates that people spent around $53 billion dollars on food, veterinary services, kenneling and more for their pets in 2012. Because people are willing to spend so much more on the health and welfare of their pets, they want to be sure they are taking their animals to qualified and trustworthy veterinarians and vet assistants.
  2. Technology Is Always Changing:
Medical procedures are always being improved and medical technology constantly advances to improve the health of patients, both human and animal. The need for veterinary assistants who have studied and are properly trained in the latest technology is extremely important for veterinary offices.
  3. Lots Of Places To Work:
Aside from veterinary offices, there is an abundance of places where your diploma from online veterinary assistant programs is an asset. Ranches, farms, zoos, aquariums, animal shelters, wildlife preserves and more are all looking to hire people with animal care knowledge and expertise. There are also men and women who use their knowledge of animals and animal care to pursue careers in pharmaceuticals for pets.

Using your education to benefit the wellbeing of pets is a noble and worthwhile calling. Your career path allows you to make a difference in the lives of animals who cannot speak up for themselves. By pursuing your diploma from online veterinary assistant programs, you’ll have many opportunities for a fulfilling career.
