Opportunities in Child Care Career Skills
Trained, experienced child day care specialists who can demonstrated the right skills and knowledge should be able to pursue a variety of exciting and respected career opportunities.
As more parents of child-bearing age enter and remain in the labor force, many will likely be seeking care options for their children. About four out of ten preschool teachers and child care workers are self employed; about 60 percent are found in child care centers and preschools, and about 14 percent work for religious institutions. The remainder work in community organizations and State and local government. About two percent of private industry establishments operate on-site child care centers for the children of employees.
A Busy Field
There may be opportunities in child care centers, nursery schools, preschools, public and private schools, and family child care homes. Child day care professionals may work part time or full time. No matter where you establish your career, your days will likely be busy and fulfilling. Here is a sampling of the kinds of activities and responsibilities you may soon be looking forward to:
